Dynamics NAV began as Navision, created in 1984 by three college friends from Copenhagen. 

It was initially a single-user PC accounting solution designed to manage warehouse, finance, debits, and credits . 

In 1987, IBM partnered with the creators to launch IBM-NAVIGATOR, one of the first client/server applications. This multi-user solution quickly became popular. By 1990, Navision was introduced globally, marking its availability outside Denmark. The first Windows-based version, Navision Financials, was released in 1995.

Microsoft acquired Navision in 2002, integrating it into its suite of business solutions. This acquisition allowed Microsoft to enhance the product further and expand its reach.

Most of the team at Brookland Solutions have been working with the system since its first availability outside of Denmark – and we continue to support all iterations of the program, even now.

In 2018, Microsoft rebranded Dynamics NAV as Dynamics 365 Business Central, incorporating modern cloud capabilities and deeper integration with other Microsoft services.
